Rise of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: The Movie takes the best aesthetics from comic books and underground anime like Dead Leaves and Mind Game and fuses them together in a totally original mutant hybrid.
My Father’s Dragon
My Father’s Dragon is the newest hand-drawn animated film from director, Nora Twomey (The Breadwinner) inspired by the children’s book by Ruth Stiles Gannett. The film follows a boy named Elmer who befriends a goofy, young dragon as they try to prevent the fantastical Wild Island from sinking. The film is a visual feast with layered art that’s like a picture book drawn to life.
Entergalactic
Created by Kid Cudi and Kenya Barris, Entergalactic is about two young artists navigating the twists and turns of finding love in New York City. The adult animation revolution is about challenging the preserved limitations of animation and exploring the outer limits of form and content. Kid Cudi expressed how “we’ve entered an era of indie style adult animation that I never wanna leave” and Entergalactic is a prime example of this new era.
