‘Granblue Fantasy: Versus Rising’ Shows Massive Improvement On The Original

by Sage Ashford

During the Granblue Fantasy Fes, Cygames and ArcSystemWorks revealed there was more to come for the Granblue Fantasy: Versus franchise. This upcoming game makes plenty of changes to the original title, starting with adding new characters and stages to the game. They didn’t talk specific numbers here, but considering the mobile game’s massive cast, there’s plenty of options available.

They’ve also added Ultimate Skills, which will briefly slow down the opponent to allow more combos and opportunities to punish the opponent. According to ArcSystemWorks, this won’t be the only new mechanic added to the game.

For fans who prefer single-player content, an entirely new Story Mode is being added, which will add all the chapters from the original Granblue Fantasy: Versus.

Perhaps most importantly to the fighting game community though, is that in addition to improved visuals, Granblue Fantasy: Versus Rising will be adding the all-important rollback netcode and crossplay.  It’s almost as if they want people to play their game for once.

Granblue Fantasy: Versus Rising will launch for PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, and Steam sometime in 2023.
