IDW Reveal Covers For The Scott Snyder Curated ‘Dark Spaces: Good Deeds’

Announced last summer at San Diego Comic-Con, we haven’t heard much more about Dark Spaces: Good Deeds, the second comic book miniseries Scott Snyder’s curated line of IDW original comic book projects. Described simply as an “eerie historical thriller of obsession, power, and redemption”, today IDW have revealed the cover line-up for the debut issue.
This six-issue miniseries is written by Che Grayson (Batman: Urban Legends), with art by Kelsey Ramsay (Joan Jett and the Black Hearts, I Love Rock-n-Roll), and colours by Ronda Pattison (Dark Spaces: Wildfire).
Here’s what Snyder had to say about this new title:
“The most rewarding part of overseeing Dark Spaces is watching the ascendant talent of newcomers evolve from ideas into incredible new comic books. Che and Kelsey have crafted a pitch-perfect, soul-searing mystery in Good Deeds. It’s the perfect story to expand the Dark Spaces line to visionary new creators…and it’s only the first of more to come.”
Grayson added:
“I’m incredibly excited to get this into the hands of horror fans who are searching for a story that will be scary and thought-provoking in equal measure. I’ve always been drawn to stories where flawed characters find themselves thrust in the middle of a mystery. But the only way they can uncover the truth of that mystery is if they face their own dark secrets. I hope that readers find Jean’s journey really satisfying as she searches for meaning in the world and in her own life.”
Cover art is by series artist Ramsay, Elizabeth Beals (Star Trek: The Next Generation—Terra Incognita), Hayden Sherman (Dark Spaces: Wildfire), and Martin Morazzo (Ice Cream Man) with colours by Chris O’Halloran.
And, here’s the lowdown of the series:
“In Good Deeds, teenager Cheyenne Rite and her mother, Rebecca, move to St. Augustine, Florida, in search of a fresh start. They cross paths with Jean McKnight, a disgraced big-city journalist determined to rebuild her career, starting with a fluff piece on the town’s upcoming 450th anniversary celebration. When the quaint community’s festivities give way to bloodshed, Jean begins an investigation, and the women find themselves at the heart of a supernatural conspiracy linked to St. Augustine’s sinister colonial past.”
