Coming Soon: The Story Museum Presents PheonixFest 2023

by Richard Bruton

Another chance to see the artists behind the brilliant Phoenix Comic in person, as the annual PheonixFest is announced for April 2023!

Celebrating the all-ages brilliance of the Phoenix Comic, Phoenix Fest 2023 takes place on 15th – 16th April, with tickets on sale from 6th March 2023. Last year’s PhoenixFest was a huge event, selling out within minutes, so set a date in your calendar if you want to get hold of tickets this year!

The events take place in The Story Museum in Oxford for a huge weekend of comics and comic-making for ages 7-16. It’s a kids-only event, meaning that those annoying parental/guardian types will have to drop their kids off at the start of whatever event they’re involved with and pick them up after. And if you’re an over 16-year-old who loves the stuff in the Phoenix Comic (and there’s nothing wrong with that, I’m one of that number) you’ll have to wait to see some of the creators at other events during the year.

All tickets include a masterclass event with Neill Cameron (Mega Robo Bros – Saturday) or Jamie Smart (Bunny Vs Monkey – Sunday), two workshops with Phoenix Comic artists, access to the Phoenix Comic marketplace where artists will be doing ‘meet and greets’, and book signings, access to The Story Museum’s exhibition ‘Kaboom! The Art of Creating Comics’, and an exclusive free gift.

Other artists involved include Zak Simmons-Hurn, Jess Bradley, James Turner, Abby Bulmer, James Stayte, Rob Deas, Thiago De Moraes, Sam Davies, Joe List, and Gary Northfield. It’s a fun-packed line-up to celebrate the Phoenix Comic for sure!

I could tell you all about it, but the poster pretty much gives you all the info you need…
