‘Pokemon Scarlet and Violet’ Players Lose Hundreds of Hours of Gameplay

Nintendo recently released update 1.2.0 for Pokémon Scarlet and Violet and things have not been smooth. This update sought to rectify an array of existing bugs in the base game, such as pokemon HP reflecting incorrectly in tera raids, as well as promote the upcoming DLC. However, with the new integrations there appears to have come unintended side effects.

After the update, some players have reported their entire save file has been corrupted. Reddit user Matthewcbayer reportedly lost nearly 600 hours of gameplay due to this error. The good news is the bug appears to be extremely rare, affecting only a handful of self reported users. It’s also been said by several gamers and even Serebii.net’s Joe Merrick that Nintendo is aware of the issue.
TPC are aware. That I can guarantee as last week I messaged them myself about it.
While initially it may have been thought to be caused by players connecting their Pokemon-Go accounts, or purchasing the DLC pre-order, further communication and reports suggests this correlation is simply untrue. It leaves us to wonder why is this happening and, more importantly, will it happen to me?
Personally, after hatching over 1200 Masuda-method Glimmet eggs in search for shiny and painstaking IV breeding for my 6IV Hissulean Zoroark, I don’t think it’s worth the risk. For now, I’ll be sticking to Pokémon Legend of Arceus, or perhaps Super Mario Odyssey until the bug has been resolved.
