Portsmouth Comic Con 2023 Unveils Its Comic Art Trail 2023 Highlighting Emerging Comic Talent From Japan

Portsmouth Comic Con takes place in June, but before the convention opens the town will play host to five exciting voices in the Japanese indie scene in their 2023 Comics Trail.

The Portsmouth Comic Con takes place 3th-4th June 2023, full of plenty of comics and pop culture entertainment attractions, offering panels, displays, workshops, exhibitions, cosplay, and interactive fun for the family.

Comic guests announced so far are Esad Ribic, Dave McKean, Pepe Larraz, Anna Morozova, Gary Erskine, Alison Sampson, Laura Watton, Andy Fanton, Clark Bint, Marc Laming, and Ver, with more to be announced.

But before all of the comic convention goings-on, Portsmouth Comic Con have announced that they’ll be taking to the streets of Portsmouth from Monday 3rd April to Sunday 16th April for an international comics art trail, featuring five up-and-coming artists from the Japanese comics scene. The art will also feature in an exhibition at Portsmouth Comic Con in June.

Working with Adam Pasion of Nagoya-based indie publisher, Big Ugly Robot Press, Portsmouth Comic Con presents five new and exciting artists in the Japanese alt/indie comics scene for the comics trail of 20 pieces of work – Tomomi Mooney, Victor Edison, Chieko Kobayashi, Michiru Morikawa and Tetsuya Yamamoto.

The Japanese trail follows the 2022 Thai art trail, both developed by Portsmouth Comic Con Creative Co-ordinator and illustrator, Jonathan Scott.
