The Depths Of Love, Revenge, And Human Spirit: Previewing ‘The Incal- Dying Star’

Humanoids has revealed a first look at The Incal: Dying Star. It has been told to me that this book is a highly anticipated graphic novel set in the expansive universe of the sci-fi epic originally created by visionary duo Alejandro Jodorowosky and Moebius.
Now I know I like Moebius’ work and Jodorowosky is one of those brilliant minds that I often feel I’m not enlightened enough to get more than a very small part of his message most of the time. So this book is either going to be so far over my head I’m just along for the ride, or one of those “Once you read this you can never think the same way about X” type things and both are totally okay with me.
Author Dan Watters (Lucifer, The Seasons Have Teeth*), artist Jon Davis-Hunt (Clean Room, Bloodshot Unleashed), and letterer Troy Peteri on board, The Incal: Dying Star is said to be a gripping and emotional journey that explores the depths of love, revenge, and the human spirit.
Set at the heart of the story, Commander Kaimann is a man who has lost everything and is struggling to hold on to what remains of his broken life. His mutation, once a source of pride, has now become a burden, threatening to consume him completely.
However, when all seems lost, Kaimann’s path crosses with that of Aurora, a Sister of Entropy who is facing certain death, and against all odds, Kaimann and Aurora find hope in each other. Together they hatch a plan to secure their future. However, with an enemy fleet hot on their trail and Kaimann’s past threatening to catch up with him, as pasts are want to do. the odds are stacking up against them quickly. These two will have to fight tooth and nail to find out if their love is enough to conquer the challenges they face.
Hitting stores on May 9, it seems The Incal: Dying Star will be a must-read for fans of science fiction graphic novels who love stunning visuals and stories full of emotional depth and turmoil.
Until Next time, watch some of the Alejandro Jodorowosky stuff that is out there. It’s great, but I sure do feel like I need to know so much more about the universe to even understand a fraction of it.
*The Seasons Have Teeth – Dan Watters has blown me out of the water with The Seasons Have Teeth. I got to review issue one and that book is so weird and eldrich and emotional and strange. It was an amazingly good read. I don’t know if it was fun, but it was enjoyable. I really like Dan’s work and if he is writing this it may be pretty freaking mindbending and rad at the same time.
