Dramatic Labs’ ‘Star Trek: Resurgence’ Releases May 23rd
by Sage Ashford
Developer Dramatic Labs has finally let fans know when they’ll be able go boldly where no man has gone before in their narrative adventure title, Star Trek: Resurgence. In a rather random announcement on Twitter, the game will release on May 23rd.
Originally announced at The Game Awards 2021, Star Trek Resurgence takes place sometime after Star Trek: The Next Generation. Players will have access to First Officer Jara Rydek and Ensign Carter Diaz, while they both work to stop two civilizations from going to war with one another.
If this game seems like it’s coming out of nowhere and there’s been almost no press on it, that was apparently by design. From the news post that confirmed Resurgence’s new release date:
“Lastly, you might want to know why we’ve been so quiet along the way. We’ve primarily been putting our efforts into getting across the finish line. Trailers, dev diaries, and social media take time away from actually working on the game. We also didn’t want to announce a new release without having a good idea of when we would deliver the game to you.”
It’s a curious approach, but they’ve also confirmed that they plan on showing off more of the game now that the release date has been confirmed. Considering how Star Trek is experiencing a renaissance in television, hopefully they can figure out the video game angle as well.
Star Trek: Resurgence launches on Xbox Series, PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5, and the Epic Games Store.
