The Scarlet Scarab Makes Her Comics Debut In July’s ‘Moon Knight’ Event

by Tony Thornley

She was one of the biggest and most exciting parts of Marvel’s Moon Knight limited series. Now this July, the Scarlet Scarab joins Moon Knight’s comic book mission in Moon Knight #25 and Moon Knight: City of the Dead #1!

Layla El-Faouly made a huge splash on the Disney+ series, and this summer she’s joining the ranks of key characters who made their debut on screen before their on page appearances. In July, writer Jed MacKay’s landmark run on Moon Knight reaches issue #25, with art from Alessandro Cappuccio, Alessandro Vitti, and Partha Pratim. The issue will see Marc Spector’s past and present collide as his former mercenary crew resurfaces, including Layla. Then in Moon Knight: City of the Dead, David Pepose and Marcelo Ferreria sees Layla take up the superheroic mantle of the Scarlet Scarab to team with Moon Knight in a mind-bending trip into the underworld.

Marvel has debuted a new trailer for the dual event, featuring new artwork from both issues. Check it out, as well as the covers for the two issues from superstars Steve McNiven and Rod Reis.

Be sure to pick up Moon Knight #25 and Moon Knight: City of the Dead #1 this July from Marvel Comics!
