Review: ‘Money Shot Comes Again’ #2… Comes Again!

You would not believe the looks I get when I say…

“Man! I love Money Shot!” 

This book is about a group of space-hopping scientists who use their heads, hearts, and any other body parts that may come into play, in the pursuit of exploration in all its forms and the betterment of mankind.

This book is fun.

Like, really fun. I understand the fact that it’s an 18+ title is going to give some people the wrong impression about it. Out the gate, there is sex in this book. Lots of sex. It’s mostly goofy sex in this issue, as the crew is stuck on a mining platform hurdling through space and they are set upon by a group of thinly veiled well-known character icons. The XXX-plorers do what they do best and hook up with these well-known parody versions of famous characters and things go fairly smoothly until some shenanigans occur, thanks to a billionaire with bad intentions.

The B-story in this issue is still following an incarnation of the indie comix Cherry Popstar who has been turned into a bored billionaire’s personal pet AI and as things progress she seems to be hatching her own plans on how she would like to see the universe run.

I would be remiss if I did not call out the talent behind the issue. Tim Seeley writes the words, while Gisèle Lagacé draws the lines. Carlos Badilla Z is on colors, and CRANK! letters up the bubbles and blocks. The crew comes together and really makes a memorable and weirdly heartwarming Vault Comics story about space, sex, and corporate greed.

Until next time, everything that was creepy about the old days of Deviant Art is weirdly done well and makes this comic fun. I get that it can be hard to read an 18+ comic but if you can get past that this book has such a huge amount of heart even if you can find conventionally attractive scientists hooking up with anthropomorphic and I guess anatomically correct rat robot steam boat captains.
