‘Solo Leveling’ Anime Adaptation Coming Winter 2024

Exactly one year after the announcement trailer, A-1 Pictures showed up to AnimeExpo again to reveal the first trailer for popular Korean manhwa/light novel, Solo Leveling. Set in a world where the modern society has become connected to a fantasy realm through a massive “Gate”, Solo Leveling follows Sung Jin-Woo, a young man with weak skills who hunts monsters to take care of his mother.
Though Jin-Woo seemingly has no chance in the dungeon, things change for him when he gains access to a magical device known as “the System”, which gives him the chance to become one of the world’s most powerful hunters.
The head writer for Solo Leveling is Noboru Kimura of Princess Principal fame, while the director is Shunsuke Nakashige, who’s worked on projects like Arifureta and Yotsuiro Biyori.
While the trailer for this looks well done, the real question is just how invested is A-1 Pictures in doing a full adaptation. Crunchyroll has done webtoon adaptations in the past but most of them disappointed thanks to feeling rushed to fit into a single season. Hopefully Solo Leveling can avoid a similar fate.
The Solo Leveling adaptation looks to launch in Winter 2024.
