Dark Horse Comics Unleashes ‘Satan’s Swarm’ Next Spring
by Anton Kromoff
Welcome to the table,
Ants worried me as a child. There was an episode of some 80’s show (I am fairly certain it was MacGyver), where a swarm of ants overtook a jungle village in a wave of destructive force that would overwhelm and eat people alive. Then there was a movie in some 80’s housing district in some warm and arid state, where swarms of ants showed up and destroyed things eating people and ripping through homes.
I was so convinced that swarms of ants could quickly strip flesh from bone that when I saw Dune for the first time, I assumed the pain box thing Paul sticks his hand in was full of ants and that was what was going on. I was like 10 or 11, I really had no idea what I was seeing but I was convinced ants were dangerous foes of humanity.

So, it delights me to tell you Dark Horse Books has announced Satan’s Swarm, a new horror graphic novel from Steve Niles and Piotr Kowalski, with colors by Lovern Kindzierski and letters by Nate Piekos.
The story follows Dr. Philip Morgan who invites entomologists, young influencers, and a reporter, amongst others, to his secluded coastal research facility for a mysterious and bizarre study. What they find is a zoo of death, where local residents have been eaten to the bone, and the specimens they have come to understand have them on the menu next.
Satan’s Swarm TPB (72 pages, 6.25 x 10.1875”) crawls into bookstores on April 2, 2024, and into comic shops on April 3, 2024. It is now available to pre-order for $22.99 at Amazon, Barnes & Noble, and your local comic shop and indie bookstore.
Until next time, I was weirdly never scared of ants… just really worried about them.
