SDCC 2023: Marvel Comics Reveals The Marvel Universe’s Final Battle In Annual ‘Timeless’ #1
by Tony Thornley
For the past two years, the year at Marvel has ended with Timeless, a special entered on Kang the Conqueror and teasing stories to come in the new year. In December 2023, Timeless returns, but with a new creative team, and interestingly, a new non-Kang focus.

Coming from Captain America: Sentinel of Liberty and Guardians of the Galaxy writers Jackson Lanzing and Collin Kelly and star artist Juann Cabal, this year’s annual reveals a future ruined by the hubris of Earth’s heroes.

Only one battle remains.
Earth’s last hero must defend the world and end the rule of a cruel god-like being, shaped by some of the most powerful forces in the universe. While this battle rages, readers will also get a glimpse of 2024’s biggest stories, as in the two previous, including the very story that begins the path to the future that the special chronicles.
In a devastating future born from the choices of today, all of time and space is threatened by the ascension of an ancient evil. The Immortal Moon Knight has risen – a nightmare borne of StarkTech, the Eternal Machine, and the God of the Moon – and now all of Earth bows before his overwhelming power! But one man stands against Khonshu’s coming tide of chaos: Power Man, the Marvel Universe’s final living super hero. But who is Power Man – and how did he come to wield the unstable powers of the Sentry, the Hulk, and the Iron Fist? What dark, deeply personal conflict underpins this mind bending apocalypse? And at the end of the line, can the Marvel Universe ever truly be saved?

Check out the cover to the special from Kael Ngu and design sheets for both characters by Cabal. Be sure to pick up Timeless #1 this December from Marvel Comics!
