‘Guilty Gear: Strive’ Begins Its Third Season August 24th

At EVO 2023, Arc System Works revealed they were continuing working on Guilty Gear -Strive- by announcing returning character Johnny, who comes as the first part of an all-new season pass. Johnny already has a character page up on the main Guilty Gear website, featuring a brief description:

“Leader of the Jellyfish Pirates. He is a master of the Hirofumi Style of swordsmanship. He’s a world-class outlaw but lives by the mantra, “Help the weak and sprain the strong,” which has made him popular among the masses.

Johnny is an easy-going guy who’s always ready to kick back, but when the going gets tough, he’s undoubtedly the man for the job. No matter how grim the situation, he never loses his cool and is often there to break the tension with a clever joke. He rescues children orphaned from war (women only) and brings them aboard his ship. He loves the members of the Jellyfish Pirates like his own family and has often told them he puts their safety before his own life.”

As for the season three pass, it seems to be adding four new characters including Johnny, with a second one coming later in the year while the other two release in 2024. They’ll also be adding two new battle stage. A free update will also add a handful of special moves to the year one roster, along with new offensive and defensive mechanics to vary up the gameplay.

Guilty Gear -Strive- is available for PlayStation and Xbox consoles, and Steam.
