There is this fun new thing that has started to happen in the bullpen. The team has started saying “This is a weird book. Ask Anton if he wants it.”
I’m the guy who loves weird books. Professionally as a journalist, I’ve become the guy who people think about when there is a book that deviates so far off the established mainstream that a team of talented journalists stops and says “Yeah, this is odd… see if Anton wants it.”
I delight in writing about demons who save the world, LGBTIQA+ kids who are trying to navigate life in a city full of monsters and cults, and personifications of impulse and passion adventuring through a noir city full of existential dread. I’ve become the weird adult the weird little kid me needed and I couldn’t be happier about that. My parents would be so mortified and I think that makes it even more delightful.

The Oddly Pedestrian Life of Christopher Chaos hits comic shops and bookstores in 2024 with a new paperback collection! Based on an idea by James Tynion IV, Christopher Chaos is written by Tate Brombal, illustrated by Isaac Goodhart, colored by Miquel Muerto, and lettered by Aditya Bidikar.
This first volume will collect issues #1-6 of the mash-up genre-bending LGBTQA+ positive series and will include a cover gallery including work from artists like Phil Jimenez, Nick Robles, Fábio Moon, and others, alongside a sketchbook section.
In Volume 1, you get to meet teenage mad scientist Christopher Chaos. For all his life he knew he was different. His brilliant mind works in ways that defy logic and enable him to do things that push him beyond his peers. Unfortunately, these abilities have also caused great pain in his personal life—leading others to fear him and leaving Christopher with profound loneliness and guilt.
Then one day something cracked. When the cute boy at high school turns out to be a deadly creature, Christopher finds himself pitted in a world of monsters, heroes, and a cult of hunters out to kill them all.
The Oddly Pedestrian Life of Christopher Chaos Volume 1 TPB will be available in bookstores on May 21, 2024, and in comic shops on May 22, 2024. It is now available to pre-order for $24.99 at Amazon, Barnes & Noble, and your local comic shop and indie bookstore.
