Lew Stringer’s ‘Fanzine Funnies’ — Get It While You Can!

The ever-funny Lew Stringer has his latest self-published comic available right now, a collection of satires of The Prisoner called Fanzine Funnies….

You should know Lew’s name, his work includes The Beano, Doctor Who Magazine, Viz, Buster, Marvel UK, and so many more. He’s also self-published many of his own creations, including Combat Colin, Barmy Comix (as featured here), and Tough Guy and Scruffy (which I featured here).

His latest self-published comic looks perfect, especially for those of us who loved the classic TV show The Prisoner.

Fanzine Funnies collects all of Lew’s strips from the ’90s that originally appeared in Prisoner fanzines such as Camera Obscura.

The 32 page A5 landscape-format comic includes two series that Lew did in the early nineties; Rogue Rover tells the story of what happened to “that big white balloon” after the events of The Prisoner, with the roving, and unusually articulate, sphere becoming a jobbing actor and then a time traveller!

The other series in the comic, Mumbler Six, features Alistair Sadgitt, the most intense fanboy in the world! (Oh, we all know one of those.)

Bonus material in the comic includes Number Six and his Unmutual Tricks (What if The Prisoner had been a traditional British humour strip), two full-page satirical cartoons, and two experiments from Lew playing around with mixing his art with CGI models.

The initial 100-copy print run sold out almost immediately – as it should! – but there’s more available.
