‘Stranger Things’ Are Happening In Smaller, Six Point Articulated Scale!

Stranger Things was one of those shows I was a little hesitant about. It wasn’t because I had some deep-rooted dislike of Netflix or anything. I’ve just always been a little turned off by shows that people tell me I “have” to watch (my editor has the same thing, so if I am a weirdo for this at least I’m not alone).

The way I was convinced to check it out, though, is someone said the word “Demogorgon” and I felt every cell in my body do one of those slow head turns. Clearly, the person talking about the show noticed I had finally started paying attention to them as they immediately launched into name-dropping Tanar’ri Prince and Lord of All that Swims in Darkness way too much and I finally had to ask “What in the nine hells are you talking about?”

80’s kids and a little magic girl was not what I was expecting but then my buddy started talking about making a TTRPG about Kids on Bikes and the rest is kind of history.

I actually like the show. The first few seasons were a ton of fun, and there is some cool stuff that happened in the newest season, but I kind of feel like it’s all a lot of waiting for new episodes. Maybe they could have ended it earlier and told another story with the same kind of energy and passion with new actors and new themes in a new time period or something. Wishful thinking.

The marketing potential of Stranger Things is a thing of wonder. From helping D&D to return to the front and center of peoples minds, to providing a really fun show that hit a wide audience, to creating a marketing powerhouse that could be pushed out across toys, games, clothing, and even frozen waffles.

Even the titan of the toy industry, McFarlane Toys, has joined in the Stranger Things game. Their newest offering is nostalgically cool to me for sure. As someone who carried around the 3″ G.I Joes, these 3″ Stranger things two packs featuring Will, The Demogorgon, Eleven, and Mike Wheeler speak to me of a time when sandbox action figure adventures were one of the best ways to spend an afternoon.

The pocket-sized 3″ scale action figures come with 6 points of articulation and are packaged in a clamshell blister with an English-only reprint of Stranger Things #2 and comic book display stand. A fan of the show, the Dark Horse Comics, or just a kid, or kid at heart, who digs action figures may really dig these things.

Until next time, it still boggles my mind how much well will this show did, and still is doing, for D&D and the TTRPG space. I know, for that reason alone, I’m grateful for it.
