Indie Comic Creators Launch A Kickstarter To Establish A New Comic Convention

A bunch of indie comic book creators have got together to crowdfund their very own comic convention to be held next year at Southern Connecticut State University, if successful. Called Indie Comics Creator Con (IC3), it is proposed to take place on March 9, 2024 and hopes to shed a light on the smaller voices in comics who find the tie in their lives to produce and publish indie comics. And all spearheaded by Matthew Sardo, who has more than 15 years of experience in the industry and leads IC3 as the Convention Director. Here’s his statement on the state of indie comics in the US:
“We are in a golden age of self-published comics, and the Indie Comics Creator Con is a direct celebration of that, I’m so excited to bring such a diverse group of people together to celebrate independent comics and creators. This show is going to have a vibe like no other.”

“The launch is being supported by a generous Kickstarter campaign, which aims to make this visionary event an accessible reality. Supporters will enjoy exclusive benefits, including discounted tickets, limited edition convention posters by artists such as Tony McMillen, Pat Rooks, Jamie Jones, Ben Granoff, Sam J Royale, and Mahdi Khene; and the first-ever Indie Comics Creator Con pin, indicating they are one of IC3’s charter members. There’s even a Stay-At-Home ticket option for those who want to participate vicariously or from afar.”
Working alongside Sardo will be Rocko Jerome, writer and producer of the comic called GHOST Agents, who will act as Director of Programming, and Anthony Composto, Editor-in-Chief of Monkeys Fighting Robots. So, plenty of passionate people.
As part of the rewards to be offered when the campaign launches, you can grab a limited number of lifetime passes, a digital or physical copy of the 2024 Indie Comics Yearbook, which will be a comprehensive 150+ page book celebrating independent comic book creators from around the world.
