Nintendo’s Latest Nintendo Direct Does A Deep Dive Into ‘Super Mario Wonder’

by Sage Ashford

After going without a 2D Mario title for over a decade, Nintendo surprised everyone when they revealed Super Mario Bros. Wonder, the next iteration of 2D Mario. Now, in a new Nintendo Direct, the publisher goes into detail about the world of Super Mario Bros. Wonder, including the story, special power-ups, and the mysterious Wonder Flower.

In the new Flower Kingdom led by Prince Florian, Bowser discovers the power of the Wonder Flower, and uses it to merge with Prince Florian’s castle. This incredible new power allows him to alter the Flower Kingdom as he sees fit, leaving Mario and his friends no choice but to save the kingdom.

With new power-ups, new enemies, and a new world to explore, Super Mario Bros. Wonder looks to prove 2D Mario can still compete with 3D. There’s even local and online multiplayer, allowing players to work together or race against one another.

Super Mario Bros. Wonder launches October 6th.
