Sony Announces Details For Handheld Peripheral, The PlayStation Portal

by Sage Ashford

The PlayStation Portal is probably the rare case of a peripheral that was more hyped by fans before it was announced. When fans believed this was a new portable console for a brief period of time, buzz was at an all-time high. The reality is a little less enticing than the fantasy, but it might still serve a purpose.

The Portal is designed to stream games directly from the PlayStation 5 console using a home Wi-Fi, releasing gamers from the need for a television screen to keep playing their games.

It’s not necessarily what everyone wanted, but it does look cool to be able to play Spider-Man 2 without turning on a television. The PlayStation Portal releases November 15, and is currently priced at $199.99.
