Freedom Games Announces Side-Scrolling Beat ‘Em ‘G.I. Joe: Wrath Of Cobra’ Based On 1980s Series

Usually, seeing a trailer focused more on a rendered movie instead of gameplay is annoying. However, when it’s a recreation of classic 1980s cartoon G.I. Joe, people might be a bit more willing to change their minds. Developer Maple Powered Games and Freedom Games have announced they’re working on G.I. Joe: Wrath of Cobra, a side-scrolling beat ’em up where players can control some of the most famous Joes in a battle against the deadliest members of Cobra’s army.

On top of making sure this game is as ’80s as possible with its soundtrack and gameplay, the developers have also promised extensive post-launch support, which includes adding more Joes, additional levels, and even more game modes. The beat ’em up genre might be more popular than ever, but if this game is as fun as the trailer looks, there’s room for another.

G.I. Joe: Wrath of Cobra is planned for a release on console and Steam in 2024.
