TV Review: ‘My Adventures with Superman’ Season 1, Episode 10 — The Action Doesn’t Let Up

Fans of My Adventures with Superman might think that after a very intense two-part episode the show would try to slow down a bit and maybe even have a filler episode. But that’s not what it does. Instead, this week’s episode is action-packed and filled with tons of more revelations. It seems as if the fairly standard monster-of-the-week cartoon format the first half of the season utilized has changed. The storyline is picking up the pace and taking a much more anime feel to it as things ramp up towards an inevitable and climactic finale.
It’s Thanksgiving at the Kent farm. Clark (Jack Quaid) is taking Jimmy (Ishmel Sahid) as usual, but he also invited Lois (Alice Lee) and her father, General Sam Lane (Joel de la Fuente). When he arrives at the house, Clark realizes that the general who’s been hunting him is actually Lois’s dad. During the dinner, a Kryptonian invasion begins. Through a vision of the alternate Clark, he sees that some versions of him are evil, but he’s also able to utilize the Kryptonite inside a device to destroy the ship, thus saving Earth from the invasion. In the episode’s closing moments, General Lane stands down rather than attack Superman in his weakest moment.
There’s actually another end scene to the episode involving Kryptonians talking about the invasion force. There’s a strong chance that this character is Zod, who will end up being the main foe for the rest of the season. Until then, an interesting dynamic is being created. General Lane is having conflicting feelings about Superman, while Clark is facing his ancestry head on. Since the hologram of the individual presumed to be his birth father cannot speak English yet, there is a lot left unsaid with Clark’s history. The show is branching off into many different areas at once, but it’s all compelling television and headed in the right direction.
