The Quest Begins Anew In ‘Aquaman And The Lost Kingdom’ Trailer

by Erik Amaya

Arthur (Jason Momoa) and Orm (Patrick Wilson) must team up to face a newly superpowered Black Manta (Yahya Abdul-Mateen II) in Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom. And as seen in the trailer below, the two brothers still have plenty of issues to work through as they attempt to stop Manta and his Black Trident.

We’ll be honest — we’re still wary of Warner Bros’ DC output after The Flash. Although Blue Beetle was quite enjoyable, it was also a smaller film with reasonable stakes and ambitions. The Lost Kingdom is a return to the more bombastic superhero tentpole filmmaking that has definitely faltered since the pandemic began. All that said, the glimpses of the film highlighted in the trailer at least look competent. Momoa is always great as Arthur and teaming him up with Wilson’s Orm is a nice pivot — one allegedly decided upon long before Amber Heard‘s legal problems with Johnny Depp began. But will we see it in theaters? Time and tide will tell.

Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom crashed into theaters on December 20th.
