Chaotic Cat-Filled Fun: Reviewing ‘Purr Evil’ #2

Welcome to the table,

I love my cats. They all have very unique personalities and they are all attentive and protective and, for the most part, very chill unless someone outside our home gets too hands-on with them or gestures toward me in a threatening way. I know it sounds strange, but they are very protective creatures. They may also be evil to the core.

Purr Evil #2 from Image Comics is ridiculous and fun in ways that are worth WAY more than the cover price and it’s packed full of demonic cats to a degree that while I already liked this title but now I’m a hardcore fan.

We are introduced to Deb’s origins at the feet of a massive two-headed demon cat known as Mucci. We get a glimpse at the interdimensional plague of felines and the murder rampages that Deb can cause. We see her get her memories shut down so that part of her is not active. Then we see what happens when they get reawakened. We also get to meet a punk-rock witch woman grandma figure in Deb’s life who helped her and her mom rebuild. We get to see mass chaos and calamity as the world comes unhinged and Deb gets deeper and deeper into this hidden world she was never aware of.

Created and written by Mirka Andolfo, with art by Laura Braga this book is weird and delightful, and chaotic and if you are into that kind of thing you will want to pick it up and give it a go because Purr Evil blends magic, mayhem, and mystery into a pop-rock paste and paints the most beautiful story with it across page after bloody page.
