Review: ‘Demon Slayer: Kimetsu No Yaiba: The Official Coloring Book’

Today wasn’t a great day for me. I woke up with a scratchy throat, and the COVID test I took as a precaution had an ambiguous result. I’ve been trying not to stress too much about whether or not I’m actually going to have to deal with this stupid disease again, but that’s easier said than done.
Do you want to know what helped distract me? The Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba: The Official Coloring Book. I’m not saying it’s going to solve all or even any of your problems, but I can say that while I was coloring in Tanjiro with birds on his shoulders, I wasn’t worrying about my health – I was totally focused on the task at hand.
I haven’t used a coloring book since I was a little kid, but honestly, I shouldn’t have left the habit behind. It’s relaxing, and it’s a great way to tap into a part of my brain I don’t usually use. I’m not an artistic person – the only art I do is writing. So my coloring wasn’t good, but I had fun with it. That’s what matters.
What was good was the book itself. It contained some genuinely awesome line art, featuring everyone from Tanjiro and Nezuko to Muzan and the Hashira. It even had a few comic panels. All of it was drawn by creator Koyoharu Gotouge. There was also a lovely note that advised users to try out new color palettes, so that’s exactly what I did. For the record, here’s my Tanjiro.
