Park Chan-wook Directs New HBO Series ‘The Sympathizer’

The Sympathizer is a HBO limited series about a half-French, half-Vietnamese man who served as a spy for Communist forces during the Vietnam War. The series stars Hoa Xuande, Robert Downey Jr., and is directed by Park Chan-wook (Old Boy). After being blown away by Park Chan-wook’s mastery in The Handmaiden I’m convinced that’s he’s one of the most exciting directors working today. With a killer cast and director The Sympathizer has the makings of a phenomenal TV series.
