New Beasts Unleash For Free League’s ‘Dragonbane’

Dragonbane has been one of those books I have followed with delight. Originally titled Drakar och Demoner it’s Scandinavia’s first biggest TTRPG. Launched in 1982 and finally coming to English audiences last year under the title Dragonbane, it is a game with claws lodged firmly in both decades of Swedish gaming and the new modern innovations that Free League Publishing has come to be known for.

As the game grows, new books are forthcoming and the newest announced is the Dragonbane Bestiary.

The Bestiary is set to include no fewer than 63 creatures, each brought to life in text and art, as well as a random encounter and a seed for a complete adventure. Among the new creatures and encounters, there are nine new playable kin each with their own unique ability. You can preorder the Bestiary at this link.

The full-color hardcover book is gloriously illustrated by artists Johan Egerkrans and David Brasgalla, two of my favorite creators working in publishing right now. The book will be available both in a standard edition and in a premium Collector’s Edition, with a faux leather cover and gold foil print.

The Bestiary will be released alongside a complete cardboard Standee Set for the creatures in the Bestiary for use on a battle map, available separately. You can purchase the Standee Set at this link.

In addition, Free League will release a requested hardback version of the Dragonbane Rulebook – also in a standard edition and a premium Collector´s Edition, with a faux leather cover and gold foil print. The contents of the separate rulebooks are the same as in the softcover rulebook in the boxed core set but will have an added introductory adventure titled The Castle of the Robber Knight.
