‘Elvira Meets H.P. Lovecraft’ In February

It was bound to happen at some point.
Dynamite announced on Monday Elvira’s next adventure: Elvira Meets H.P. Lovecraft. The series brings the Mistress of the Dark into close proximity with the classic — if questionable — writer of American horror. David Avallone continues on as writer with Kewber Baal joining him on art.
And what quest could bring the two horror legends together? The last copy of The Necronomicon, naturally. Will Elvira put up with Lovecraft’s quirks long enough to stop the Great Old Ones, or will, as Dynamite puts, “this Whisperer in the Dark drive [Elvira] straight past the Mountains of Madness?
“True Lovecraft fans will find a lot of echoes and Easter Eggs from his work,” Avallone said in a statement. “My dad had a copy of The Dunwich Horror and Other Stories when I was growing up, and I read it at a fairly young age. I was blown away by the writing and the imagination: it felt like ‘what if Poe wrote sci-fi?’ I also noticed, even then, that so much of his horror reflected his fear of the “other” and the unknown, and how it turned ugly when those fears extended to his fellow human beings and not just tentacled space monsters. We deal with that head on and — I hope — find comedy in this early 20th century ghost, with all his fears and prejudices, having to face a very different world from the one he left behind, as he embarks on this crazy quest with a woman who will take no crap from him.”
The first issue is supported with covers from Baal, Dave Acosta, and Robert Hack. And, of course, there will be a photo cover of Elvira herself.
Elvira Meets H.P. Lovecraft #1 is due out in February.
