Another day passes and we’re getting closer and closer to the big day itself, so time to present another festive Advent comic from the Comicon Advent Calendar…

Today, we’re going to Hellboy, and the 2020 Hellboy Winter Special tale ‘The Longest Night‘ by Chris Roberson and Leila del Duca, with colours by Michelle Madsen.
It’s a wintery Christmas in upstate New York, 1924, with Sarah Jewell, American occultist and member of The Silver Lantern Club faced with a murder mystery with a little bit of wilderness cryptid legend thrown in.
No Hellboy in this one, just a well-told little monster murder mystery tale, just as you’d expect from the star of The Sarah Jewell Mysteries series created by Mike Mignola as part of the Hellboy Universe.
Sarah and her little gang have already had one death, with Calvin Durant’s death… could it be the horror of the Boogam or something more down to Earth that did for him?
Well, that’s what this monster mystery taking the place of a good old-fashioned Christmas ghost story gets to play out…

Idiotic, pompous man who’s already killed once and has no truck with any of these ridiculous ghost stories? Oh, you just know he’s going to flee out into the wintery night, ignoring the warnings… and of course he does…

All of which leads us to the pay-off you knew was coming… doesn’t make it any less enjoyable though…
