It’s getting closer and closer, can you feel the chill in the air and that lovely sense of expectation you get around this time of year? Only a week and it’s Christmas Eve, which must mean that it’s time we bring you day 17 of Comicon’s Advent Calendar...
It’s Christmas for Fred Flintstone in this Marvel Comic from 1977, a seasonal tale with just a little of the Scrooge about it, although surprisingly it’s not Fred who’s playing Scrooge this year, even though he’s not really feeling the spirit of the season.
But all that moping changes as soon as Fred gets a eureka moment – this year he’s going to do something good, making sure all the orphans in the orphanage have enough presents…
Oh, Fred, Fred, Fred… sure, you get the extra presents that the orphans need but you just know that a loan shark’s a mistake, don’t you?
And lo, it comes to pass…
Oh, poor old Fred, the worst Christmas ever? Still, there’s always hope, especially when you have Santa listening in…
Off he goes, through the next strips in the book, all to collect various HB characters just to make Fred’s party go with a bang…
