‘Orson Welles: Warrior Of The Worlds’ To Become A Television Series

Orson Welles is at it again.
Scout Comics & Entertainment announced on Wednesday that their comic book, Orson Welles: Warrior of the Worlds, is in development as a television series. Written by Milton Lawson with art by Erik Whalen, the series told the “real” circumstances behind Welles’s legendary War of the Worlds radio broadcast which some believed to be a factual account of aliens invading a town in New Jersey. In our world, Welles, having been alerted to the panic forming in the audience, broke character to announce the evening was meant to be a “harmless prank” on the listeners, but Warrior of the Worlds reframes the Citizen Kane and F for Fake director as an interstellar warrior keeping extraterrestrial forces at bay. And as a key player in the Great Galactic War, he “travels through dimensional portals and faces the ultimate threat to the Milky Way.”
Ready or Not co-writer R. Christopher Murphy will develop the series. Scout will produce the eventual program alongside with the Welles Estate.
Of course, as with all newly announced film and TV ventures, it is unclear how quickly Warrior of the Worlds will make its way to screens. But should it happen soon, we can’t help but wonder who will play Welles, who has been portrayed across the years by the likes of Liev Schreiber, Angus Macfadyen, and Vincent D’Onofrio.
