Missed Out On 2000 AD’s ‘Brian Bolland Apex Edition’? Here’s Your Second Chance With The Masterpiece Edition

After selling out the spectacular Brian Bolland Judge Dredd Apex Edition almost instantly, there’s now a second chance to pick up the incredible work of one of the greatest 2000 AD artists, full-size, as originally made in a new Masterpiece Edition.

The 2000 AD Apex Editions have been a huge success over the past couple of years, massive hardcover collections (seriously huge things!) reproducing the work of individual artists at full size.

Thus far, we’ve seen the Judge Dredd by Brian Bolland Apex Edition, and Art of 2000 AD Apex Editions from Steve Dillon, Kevin O’Neill, and Mick McMahon, plus a Judge Dredd by Mick McMahon Apex Edition and a Zenith Phase One edition by Steve Yeowell. All of them were immediate sellouts, followed by plenty of very excited fans amazed by the size of the thing when it arrived.

Now, we’re getting a new paperback version, measuring 307 × 231mm, of the sold-out Judge Dredd by Brian Bolland Apex Edtion, in paperback, expanded and reformatted for a wider audience!

The new Masterpiece Editions will include high-resolution scans of Bolland’s original art pages from Judge Dredd classics including The Cursed Earth, The Day the Law Died, The Judge Child Quest, and Judge Death Lives. It also includes a gallery of his covers from 2000 AD and the rather brilliant run of classic covers for the Eagle Comics Judge Dredd reprints in the 1980s.

Presumably, we’ll be seeing more of these paperback Masterpiece Editions reprinting the other Apex Editions. Interestingly though, the new Masterpiece Edition not only contains all the same original art as the Apex Edition but adds some extras, presumably ones that were discovered after the Apex Edition went to press. New pieces in the Masterpiece Edition include the Starlord Annual cover, Prog 77 page 1, Prog 86 page 6, Prog 96 page 2, Prog 120 page 3, Prog 225 cover, Prog 225 Page 3, Cursed Earth Book One illustration, Judge Child Quest (Eagle Comics reprint) issue 2 cover, Revolver Romance Special cover, Prog 2000 Tharg story page, and the Prog 2270 cover.

The Judge Dredd by Brian Bolland Masterpiece Edition is released on 20th June 2024 by 2000 AD
