TV Review — ‘Star Wars: The Bad Batch’ Season 3 Starts Off Slow But Strong

In an era when studios want to keep successful shows running for as long as possible, it’s rare to see a series wrap up in just three seasons. But that length of time is perfect for Star Wars: The Bad Batch. Although the story follows the Bad Batch as main characters, the purpose of the series is to answer a specific question as to what happened to the clones following the rise of the Empire. The show has been slowly building to answering this query, and Season 3 starts off by giving viewers a depressing hint as to what that will be.
The first three episodes begin where the previous season left off. Omega (Michelle Ang) had been captured by the Empire, and after Tech’s (Dee Bradley Baker) unfortunate demise, the remaining Bad Batch (also Baker) members make it their mission to rescue her. Meanwhile, the Empire continues clandestine clone experiments on behalf of the Emperor, who has nefarious plans for such technology. Omega can’t be contained, though. She plans an escape and manages to succeed with Crosshair’s (Baker, yet again) help.
Unfortunately, truth about this series is that there really is no ultimate happy ending. This is just the beginning of the Empire’s reign and it won’t be overthrown for well over a decade. But the future of the Bad Batch is still up in the air and unknown. Although the first few episodes were slow going, there is a lot of tension building amongst the characters. Crosshair’s reunion with the others is sure to be tense, and as the Empire pursues Omega, there will surely be a battle along the horizon.
