Why Don’t You Just Die! is a unique genre-blend of splatterpunk, Neo Western, and dark comedy. When a young man is tasked with killing his girlfriend’s abusive father to avenge her honor, his plans go sideways in the most gruesome way possible.
Writer/director Kirill Sokolov is clearly channeling early Tarantino’s penchant for gore and Edgar Wright’s stylish editing. After witnessing this wicked debut film I believe Sokolov could become a director of a similar caliber. Brutally funny, unpredictable, and slickly produced, Why Don’t You Just Die! is a modern cult classic.
