Anime Boston 2024: Interviewing BabyBeard

At Anime Boston 2024, I had the opportunity to join a group interview for Kawaii Metal band, BabyBeard. The band comprised of Suzu, Mahri, and LadyBeard were excited to celebrate their first time in Boston and their first ever live performance in the United States.
During the interview we delved into the origin of BabyBeard, navigating the cultural differences in Japan, and how to make an unusual concept resonate around the world.
The BabyBeard live concert did live up to the description of an “adorable assault on the senses.” There were multiple music numbers and a surprise interruption by BabyBeard’s Vegan arch-nemesis. LadyBeard got to show off his background in pro-wrestling to fight the villain off stage and into the crowd.
The fans at Anime Boston were quick to cheer on LadyBeard and some were able to safely and actively participate in the throw-down. The Vegan Villain was eventually defeated with the aid of Suzu and Mahri bonking him on the head with rubber chickens.
Overall BabyBeard is a unique and interesting band. They picked the perfect crowd to debut in America and I could see them gaining a cult following whenever they decide to tour.
