Previewing ‘Monster Fun’ #18: Ghastly Green Goings-On For All In The Latest All-Ages Monthly

Now monthly, Monster Fun gives you a treat of an all-ages comic full of a mix of new characters and updated classics from one of the finest Brit humour comics…

 

Time for another 36 pages of Monster Fun fun, with the usual mix of all-new strips like Hell’s Angel, Peaches Creatures, and Rex Power and rejuvenated classics from the pages of Monster Fun brought right up to date like Gums, Kid Kong, and Martha’s Monster Make-Up.

Everything has a green-tinge this month in the comedy strips – whether that’s Kid Kong finally tackling the mowing, Hell’s Angel having a few environmental issues down in hell, or Frankencritter finding problems in the forest when Critzilla gets loose. And amongst all of the funny stuff, and it’s very funny stuff, we have the longer adventure strips Rex Power and Peaches’ Creatures – although there’s still plenty of funny amongst the action there as well.

So, to give you an idea of some of the treats instore for you before we do a full preview, here’s a few of the best bits…

First off, so much wonderful stupidness to be found in a single page of Stacey Whittle and Brett Parson‘s Gums – love all the ways they manage to make poor Gums’ face go through all the stages of being a right scaredy-cat… but never more than here…

 

Or the ridiculousness of the foxes in Kid Kong by Alec Worley and Karl Dixon… more fantastic cartooning here…

 

And when you’re talking fabulous cartooning, Chris Garbutt really is channelling the genius of Leo Baxendale here with this bit from Hell’s Angel… it’s all there in the body language, and that final ‘Titter!’ – perfect.

 

And then there’s the longer adventure-style strips that still have their fair share of comedy as well, such as this lovely reaction gag from Peaches’ Creatures by Ned Hartley and Dan Boultwood…

 

And finally for this month, the return of Zorthrax the Unforgiveable Alec Worley and PJ Holden, with Holden’s art a real treat…

 

So, kids comics is alive and well and doing fine with Monster Fun, 36 pages of great comics. Perfect for kids, great fun for adults as well.

Monster Fun #18 is out on 3rd April from Rebellion and The Treasury of British Comics on 6 March, available on newsstands in the UK and from the website as a subscription.
