Excitedly Previewing WizKids’ ‘Miska The Wolf-Spider’

We are getting Miska The Wolf-Spider!
WizKids always has amazing offerings in their Icons of the Realms line, but I was never expecting them to bring us a Miska!
You may be asking “Who is Miska The Wolf-Spider?” Let’s get into it, because I am beside myself about this right now.
Miska The Wolf-Spider is a tanar’ri demon lord and the general of the Queen of Chaos’s army. Miska is imposing, to say the least. He resembles an enormous spider with three heads. One is humanoid, the other two wolf-like. He also has a massive spider-like body, with long black hair, horns, and four arms. I swear to you reader, Miska The Wolf-Spider is as metal as metal can get. I can’t even begin to explain how delighted I am to see him show up in the WizKids ‘coming soon’ section of minis.
A little bit of history about Miska, so you get what all the commotion is about. Back in the mid 1990s, there was an AD&D box set called The Rod of Seven Parts. This had an adventure that laid out the history at the Dawn of Time, where Law and Chaos went to war with each other over the forces of Chaos. Now, the forces of law were led by the Wind Dukes, and the forces of Chaos were led by the Queen of Chaos and her general, the leader of her armies, Miska the Wolf-Spider.
The Wind Dukes were outnumbered so they made a weapon called the Rod of Seven Parts. This thing could destroy almost anything, even a foe as powerful as Miska, with a single blow. So there was this huge battle that resulted in a ton of losses on both sides. In the last moments of the battle, one of the leaders from the Wind Duke’s side managed to land a blow on Miska with the Rod of Seven Parts. Instead of killing him, it tossed Miska into the Abyss. Landing this blow also shattered the Rod of Seven Parts, sending its pieces flying across the multiverse. This ended the war between Law and Chaos leaving the fate of all things in the universe to the one who would enter the Abyss wielding the repaired Rod of Seven Parts and use it to either free or slay Miska.
Now that you are caught up, we are about to see the launch of a book about Vecna in May of this year. All of a sudden Miska has a miniature popping up from the premier Dungeon & Dragons miniature company. I’m purely speculating at this point, but this seems to me to mean we could see some really big changes in the D&D landscape. If Vecna somehow gets his undead hands on the Rod of Seven Parts and wakes up Miska the Wolf-Spider, bringing the forces of Chaos under his control or at least to his aid, things could get really interesting. A lot of the bigger mythological bits of the D&D multiverse could undergo some cool shifts and changes.
