Yeah… Warduke is my favorite iconic Dungeons & Dragons character. His more nostalgic bright, flashy color scheme brings a smile to my face every time. I mean, look at him! You are some fantasy landscape, surrounded by all sides by gritty barbarians and knights in armor. Then a dude with a blue sleeve and a blue pant leg made of dragon scale, a bright yellow girdle, and a big blue helmet with wings shows up, with a demon skull shield and a sword wreathed in flame or ice. Not only does it look like he left half his armor at home, but it looks like he is going to ruin everyone’s day. He’s the perfect fantasy villain. For me, he showcases that nostalgic crossroads where high fantasy and wacky design can cross over into a strange grim dark sword & sorcery space creating something unique and unhinged.
This version of the Warduke figure, alongside his once best friend and now mortal enemy Strongheart, are part of WizKids and NECA‘s celebration D&D’s 50th Anniversary.
Strongheart will include a sword and sheath, dagger, articulated helmet visor, and vintage-style cloth cape, while Warduke will have his longsword with an attachable flame effect, short sword, dagger, and skull shield. These 50th Anniversary action figures come on blister card packaging that is a tribute to the original releases.
