Take It Easy — McFarlane Toys’ Captures An Iconic Moment With ‘The Dude’ This June
by Brendan M. Allen
McFarlane Toys has announced a Movie Maniacs figure featuring The Dude from the 1998 film The Big Lebowski. Wait. 1998? Did I read that right? I guess it checks out, though I don’t possibly see how. It’s been 26 years, one month, one week, and one day since Jeff Lebowski (Jeff Bridges) reached into that supermarket dairy cooler, pulled out a quart of half and half and took a swig, right there in the aisle.

That is the precise iconic moment that has been captured in McFarlane’s incredibly detailed 6” scale figure. The Dude is stood in his bathrobe, boxers, white T-shirt, and sandals, holding the open half and half carton casually against his chest. Attention to detail is so tight it even caught me slipping. Initially, I was disappointed that Duderino is missing the half and half mustache that remains on his lip as he writes a check for $0.69 at checkout. I went back and watched the opening scene to check, and found the exact screenshot the figure is sculpted from. Sure enough, they’ve captured the moment just before he takes that first swig. No milk mustache. So kudos, McFarlane. You win this round.

The figure comes with a black plastic stand and a collectible art card that pulls double duty as an attractive backdrop and certificate of authenticity. The mockup shows “X of 6,900,” suggesting there will be just short of 7,000 of these figs made. The folks over at McFarlane Toys also tease a “secret bonus item,” which has me intrigued. The box isn’t big enough for a bowling ball, and I hope they didn’t shove a severed pinky toe with green toenail polish in there.

The Dude drops on June 30, 2024, and is currently available for pre-order at Entertainment Earth, Big Bad Toy Store, and other online and physical toy retailers. Shop around a bit, though, because I’m seeing a couple different prices on sites. The cheapest I’m seeing is $24.99.
