Wolverine Hits The Big Apple In ‘NYX’ Variant Covers

Krakoa may have fallen, but mutantkind is not without hope. One of those standard-bearers is Laura Kinney, the Wolverine, and in NYX, she’ll be the defender of New York’s mutant culture as part of X-Men From The Ashes.
From writers Jackson Lanzing and Collin Kelly and artist Francesco Mortarino, NYX will see five young mutants navigating and defending New York’s growing mutant culture. At the center of that will be Laura Kinney, the young woman who’s grown so much since her debut in New York.
The covers- from Roge Antonio, Stanley “Artgerm” Lau, and Todd Nauck– show Laura back in New York. Two of the three do depict her in the much more revealing designs more closely associated with her life as X-23, a part of her life that she’s definitely outgrown. It may remind some fans of her debut, which unfortunately found Laura as an underage escort with some incredibly problematic aspects of her character.
It doesn’t look like the standard for this new series though, as the promotion has all talked about Laura as Wolverine. She took her father’s name when he was assumed dead. She more than proved herself worthy to take over her father’s mantle, and has been Wolverine ever since.
