TV Review: ‘Star Wars: The Bad Batch’ Series Finale Delivers

After the last couple of episodes, expectations were high for the series finale of Star Wars: The Bad Batch. The program pent several episodes building up suspense and tension as it put all of the chess pieces in place. When the finale was finally executed, it delivered wild action and character drama that Star Wars fans have been accustomed to receiving from their animated stories. It wrapped up several plot threads and character arcs while also leaving a very firm possibility open for the future. The finale was so wild that, at times, it seemed fans were in for a truly catastrophic ending — but the main characters rallied, giving audiences the happy ending they’ve been holding their breath for.
With the Bad Batch grounded while trying to infiltrate the Imperial facility, they got a big assist from Omega (Michelle Ang). Thanks to the aid of the captive children, she managed to free the Zillo Beast being held at the facility, which in turn caused massive destruction and a huge distraction. The other Bad Batch members were eventually captured, but after getting the kids to safety, Echo (Dee Bradley Baker) and Omega go back to free them as well as all of the other clones still being held there by the Empire.
Eventually, a standoff arises between Hunter, Crosshair, Omega, and Hemlock (Jimmi Simpson). In typical clone fashion, the three of them work together to end the crisis. This — along with the destruction of the clone data — brings the entire saga full circle. Of course, there were hints that the saga is not completely over. The Emperor will eventually perfect the technology to survive his death in Return Of The Jedi, so there’s always a chance Omega may return given the show’s epilogue. Still, it’s hard not to love the action and characterization this finale put front and center.
