Review: ‘The Sensational She-Hulk’ #8 Is Quick Yet Slow

Summary
Jack Of Hearts and She-Hulk are still on their vacation at a outer space resort. Though trouble is occurring even on their vacation. Will this trouble break the two heroes’ romance? Also will it break the reader’s heart?
Overall
5.9/10Writer Rainbow Rowell scripts a few nice moments in this issue. Unfortunately, Rowell creates a story that is a quick read despite having an over-arching plot that still moves like molasses.
The main cover is the creation of artist Kris Anka. While the design is rather standard and sparse, it is still high quality. One reason this is the case is the nice shade of crimson that enhances the sense of depth on the cover. Another reason is that the characters mostly have believable proportions. An exception being Jennifer Walters/She-Hulk’s right thigh looking too thick in comparison to her left. Finally both look confident about winning a presumable fight.
Artist Andrés Genolet is responsible for the interior art. Genolet also creates an image for a variant cover which features hues by colorist Morry Hollywell. Both the interiors and cover feature solid line work. Yet, the cover does have a flaw due to She-Hulk’s legs being too close in length while one is over the other. Also Rowell’s script being more talking than action hinders Genolet from getting to show off any possible growth when it comes to action scenes. As for the colors, Hollywell uses a good palette, but the windshield should arguably be obscuring Jonathan Hart/Jack Of Hearts’s face.
The art team of Terry Dodson and Rachel Dodson are the creators of the other variant cover. It has a creepy element with the fact that the Hulk, along with two other heroes, is apparently checking out She-Hulk. This is creepy mainly because he is her cousin, but also due to the fact his face is so minimalistic. Not to mention there is the debatable issue of Hulk seeming rather short. Despite these problems the inks and colors are amazing on this cover and these two elements keep it relatively high in quality.
Letterer Joe Caramagna does a mostly good job. Yet, one can argue that some of the suggestions of when characters are speaking relative to others could be better.
Interior colorist Dee Cunniffe does a fantastic job enhancing the action for the panels that lack backgrounds via a mixture of colors. This results in an anime type aesthetic that goes well with the rest of the art and colors.
