Magik & Psylocke Take Center Stage In New ‘X-Men’ #1 Variants
by Tony Thornley
The team line-up at the center of July’s X-Men #1, the flagship book of X-Men From The Ashes may not be exactly the team you think of when you think X-Men. It is full of the franchise’s heavy hitters though, and two of them are taking center stage in a pair of new variants.

Psylocke has been a mainstay of the X-Men since the Australian era, only leaving the team when dead and to temporarily lead the Exiles. But this Psylocke is Kwannon, not Betsy Braddock, the end result of a confusing series of events. Magik on the other hand was best known as either a New Mutant or Colossus’s dead sister until around Avengers Vs. X-Men when she became one of the Phoenix Five. She’s now risen to the X-Men A-list as well.
Yeah, welcome to the X-Men. Hope you survive the experience.

The duo are teamed with up on Peach Momoko’s cover, which mixes the artist’s popular Japanese style with the heroines’ new looks. Meanwhile John Tyler Christopher continues with his new signature covers, putting Magik in the middle of negative space.
Check out both covers above and watch for X-Men #1 in July.
