Daniel Warren Johnson And Riley Rossmo Team Up From New Epic Sci-Fi Series ‘The Moon is Following Us’ From Image Comics
by Olly MacNamee
Superstar creator of the moment is Eisner Award-winning writer and artist Daniel Warren Johnson is teaming up with artist Riley Rossmo for an all-new ten-issue maxiseries, The Moon is Following Us. This ten-issue miniseries was announced exclusively on IGN, but we also had our take earlier today from Tito W James here. Two quirky creators that seem like a match made in heaven.

“Sam and Duncan LaMarr love their six-year-old daughter, Penny, more than anything in the whole world. But half a year ago, she was taken by the Cascade, an evil force they barely understand. Now, Sam and Duncan must fight side by side with the magical beings Penny cherished to try and get her back…before she’s gone forever.”
Johnson told IGN:
“Not only is Riley an amazing person, but his linemaking and design sensibilities are some of the best I’ve ever seen. He is the perfect co-creator and artist to tackle such a huge and expansive world that we’ve made in The Moon is Following Us. Riley takes my scripts farther than I could have ever imagined, building on top of something I wrote and expanding it into something more wonderful, creepy, and wild than I could have ever done on my own. This book is very personal; it comes from a deep place inside both of us and we are so happy to share it with our fantastic readers.”
“The Moon is Following Us is as collaborative as you can get creating comics. It’s been amazing working with another artist on a book. Being able to send character designs and layouts back and forth has led to some great pages and covers. If I’m stuck on a composition, I can call DWJ and he’ll send me a 30-second doodle to give me an idea to get past it. Plus, Mike’s colors and Shawn’s lettering is as good as it gets. I’m very grateful to be working with such wonderful people on such a fun book.”
The Moon is Following Us #1 will be out on Wednesday, September 18th from Image Comics with the following covers:
- Cover A by Rossmo & Spicer
- Cover B by Johnson & Spicer (wraparound)
- Cover C 1:15 copy incentive by Ryan Stegman
