Daddy Needs To Express Some Rage: Deadpool Pops Off With Funko Pre-orders!

by Anton Kromoff

Welcome to the table,

I was such a huge fan of the Joe Kelly and Ed McGuinness run of Deadpool when it was first coming out. You see, my friend Matt was super into Deadpool. He had been since the character was introduced. While I always wanted to support Matty, I could not figure out why he was so into a Deathstroke the Terminator clone.

That did not matter much to me as Matty was easily the kindest person I knew at the time, and was always so supportive of me. After he would listen to me ramble on about Swamp Thing or Etrigan for hours, any mention of this “ninja sword wielding pocket man,” I would give nothing short of my full support, because that’s what you do for your friends.

So, when Joe and Ed dropped their Deadpool book and it looked rad, Sasquatch was involved, and there was a Speed 2 joke in the first few pages, I was all in!

I was all out when the series ended and Deadpool became kind of this weird oversaturated chimichangas-loving unicorn barf poop man. Matt stuck with it and had a ton of fun. I just got burnt out by everyone coming in and out of the comic shop quoting the comics, memes, fridge magnets, and more. I picked up the title again when my friend Cullen Bunn started writing it, and was a fan until he left the book. I would stay away again until the movies dropped. That’s where I was like “Okay, this works for me.”

I honestly can’t tell you why I think they are good. I have watched them more than Winter Soldier or Dark World, and next to Blade 2, the best Marvel movie in my opinion, they may be some of my favorites of the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

With the upcoming Deadpool & Wolverine movie I’m actually kind of heartened to see the merch this go around. Where it used to give me a weird “This feels like a lot” vibe, the fun sculpts that Funko is doing make me hopeful that, yeah, we may see some goofy popcorn buckets and some odd frozen pizza tie-ins. But all in all, either I have grown softer on the franchise or these things are getting way cooler as we go and feel way more intentional.

I mean look at Dogpool he’s adorable! There are a ton of Deadpool Funko POPS! Like, a ton! You can check them out and pre-order the new ones at this link. (Dinopool, a T-Rex Deadpool is blowing my mind right now)

If you are out there, and a fan of Deadpool, I hope you, like my pal Matty, are absolutely living your best life with all these releases coming out.

Until next time, Tag us on Instagram or Twitter and show us your favorite Deadpool collectible. For the love of all things unhinged… keep it safe for work… PLEASE!
