Webcomic Weekly: ‘Haus Of Decline’ & ‘The Serrated Knife’

Welcome once more to Webcomic Weekly, that’s actually managing to live up to both parts of the name – great comics online coming at you every seven days – this week, The Serrated Knife by Haus Of Decline:

Before we begin, a bit of a trigger warning for self-harm.

Although The Serrated Knife is about many things, including fantasy, work horrors, and an out-of-control flight of fantasy, it’s all started with the idea of self-harm, albeit a fantastical version of it.

If you suffer from self-harm, if it affects you, please know you are loved and cared for and understood. There is help out there and you will get through it. But please, skip this one if it’s going to affect your mental health.

Haus of Decline describes itself as an ‘ongoing multimedia project that was created by two guys named Alex and Stephen’ that started off as a podcast and grew to include comics. It’s now only Alex as Stephen’s ‘retired from public life’, but Alex is making some damn fine comics all about ‘Queer harmony and delightful scatological gags’.

Now I first caught sight of them with The Serated Knife on Twitter which is a brilliant 12-page thing about crappy jobs, fantasising about mayhem in the workplace through one specific fantasy that soon gets out of hand.

Yes, it’s difficult and it’s edgy, but it’s also a ridiculous fantasy writ large with raw but highly effective artwork. And there’s plenty more of the same sort of fantastical bent at the Haus of Decline site for you to enjoy.
