Paulina Ganucheau Takes Over ‘The Powerpuff Girls’ As Writer With Issue #4

It’s a creative change-up worthy of Chemical X.

Dynamite announced Friday that Paulina Ganucheau, who handled art duties on their The Powerpuff Girls title alongside Karen S. Darboe and Miriana Puglia, will take over as writer for issues #4-6. The first three issues were written by Kelly Thompson with issue #1 hitting shops this week. The switch also sets up a new status-quo in the production of the series, with a new woman writer taking the reins every three issues. For Ganucheau’s issues, she will be paired with Silvia De Ventura on art.

“It would be an understatement to say how beyond honored I am to be taking up the helm on one of the greatest properties ever and to follow in the comics footsteps of the great Kelly Thompson,” Ganucheau said in a statement. “I am so excited, and as a lifelong fan I will be putting my best foot forward with these three issues. Now, if only I could go back in time and tell my 10-year-old self that she’d one day be writing The Powerpuff Girls comics, she would shoot through the roof!”

Issue #4 will see the city of Townsville enjoying a charity bake sale competition hosted by Ms. Bellum and the Mayor. Will Bubbles, Blossom, and Buttercup be ready to face off against an oven and make some good entries into the contest? Of course, Princess Morbucks will be on hand to ensure the proceedings also feature a sprinkle of menace.

Supporting the issue will be covers from Ganucheau, Nicoletta Baldari, Kenya Danino, and Pasquale Qualano.
