And then I headed down one of those rabbit holes of an artists’ work… so, we’ll end the week of Art For Art’s Sake with some of Jamie McKelvie‘s fabulous artwork.

McKelvie’s best known for working with Kieron Gillen on The Wicked + The Divine, Phonogram, and Young Avengers. That collaboration started back in 2003 with their strip, Save Point, for the PlayStation magazine, before putting out the first six issues of their music infused magical series Phonogram, which saw another two series come out in 2008 and 2015. McKelvie’s first creator-owned book as both writer and artist, Suburban Glamour, came out in 2008. Young Avengers came out in 2013, followed by the 45-issues of their magnum opus, The Wicked + The Divine between 2014 and 2019.

McKelvie’s rather distinctive and always very lovely art has now been seen pretty much everywhere on work for Marvel, DC, Image, and pretty much every other company out there. He’s also been involved in plenty of design work, including creating the 2012 redesign of Carol Danvers as Captain Marvel and also the 2013 Kamala Khan Ms Marvel design.
