SDCC 2024: DSTLRY Digitizes The Convention With New Remarques and Proof Features
by Austin Gorton
DSTLRY announced two new digital initiatives designed to enhance creator and customer experiences: DSTLRY Remarques and DSTLRY Proof. DSTLRY Remarques allows creators to sign and sketch on digital editions of DSTLRY issues and books. DSTLRY Proof is a digital ownership verification tool designed to increase digital ownership benefits, with in-person (IRL) digital ownership verification. Both services will be available at DSTLRY’s booth, #2314, throughout SDCC 2024.

DSTLRY Remarques adds a personal touch to digital collectibles, enhancing their uniqueness and value for the customers. Creators also receive a percentage of every resale of the signed or sketched digital collectible.
How It Works:
- Customers can display a QR code from their DSTLRY digital comic library.
- Verified creators will use the signing app to scan the QR code and sign the digital edition on a tablet in front of the customer.
- When completed, the signature or sketch is sent to the DSTLRY servers and recorded with full verification of the signature, and will be displayed when reading the edition.
- Exclusive SDCC Signing Event: Signing will be available during SDCC (July 24-28, 2024).
- Full-Color Sketches Coming Soon: Following SDCC, DSTLRY will expand this feature to include full-color sketches on sketch covers, offering even more personalized and collectible editions.
“I love how many options there are for reading comics these days, but when people find me at a convention and tell me their collection is digital the only thing I can do is joke about signing their iPad. Now I actually can?!” said founding creator Becky Cloonan. “DSTLRY Remarques is a game-changer! I can’t wait to see how it develops.”
Meanwhile, the first application of DSTLRY Proof will be for obtaining the Mominu x Somna art toy, a limited-edition vinyl designer art toy colorway created by artist Junko Mizuno. Mominu x Somna features metallic paints and a glow-in-the-dark candle. Inspired by Cloonan and Tula Lotay’s character Ingrid from their series, Somna, this art toy will be offered for sale in an extremely limited run of 20 units per day over the five days of SDCC — but only to those who use DSTLRY Proof to show they own digital copies of Somna or The Devil’s Cut on DSTLRY’s digital platform.
How It Works:
- Customers who own digital editions of Somna or The Devil’s Cut on dstlry.co will have the exclusive opportunity to purchase the Mominu x Somna art toy.
- To verify ownership, customers will navigate to their account area on the DSTLRY digital marketplace and generate a QR code.
- The DSTLRY booth team at SDCC will scan the QR code to confirm ownership, allowing the customer to proceed with the purchase.

“DSTLRY Remarques and DSTLRY Proof exemplify our mission to merge the traditional comic experience with groundbreaking digital advancements,” said DSTLRY co-founder David Steinberger. “These features not only enhance the collector’s experience but also ensure that our creators are continuously supported through perpetual royalties via our digital marketplace.”
“These new tools reflect our dedication to pushing the boundaries of what’s possible in the comic book industry,” added DSTLRY co-founder Chip Mosher. “By providing ways for fans to engage more deeply with their favorite creators and proving the value of digital ownership, we’re setting a new standard for how comics can be enjoyed and collected in the digital age.”
