Build Your Own Movie-Accurate, Half-Sized R2-D2 With Fanhome’s Subscription Service

Fanhome has announced a model of the galaxy’s most iconic droid will be coming soon. Home droid tinkers can build this 48 cm (about 19”) replica of R2-D2, complete with incredible detail, interactive intelligence, sensors, camera, and much more. 

This model interacts just like he does in the Star Wars movies. R2’s dome rotates and contains a built-in camera capable of capturing and storing photos and video. He responds to verbal cues, and communicates using chirps, whistles, and lights. There’s even a (secret) spring-activated lightsaber in case the little fella finds himself in a situation.

With this build, subscribers have the option of the standard 21 month subscription, or they can fast-track their build in 12 months. Both tracks start off with a Welcome Package that contains two assembly stages for $1.95. On the 12 month track, the next month’s package comes with assembly stage #3 for free and the next five assembly stages for $13.45 each. The 24 month track looks the same on month two, except it has stage #3 for free, and four additional stages billed at $14.95 each. Subsequent packages arrive monthly, with the 24 month service containing five build stages, and the 12 month program containing ten. 

Fast-tracking not only gets the quirky droid completed in half the time, there is a 12% discount wrapped into the build stage costs.   

Each build stage comes with a full color magazine that details powerful secrets of the Star Wars saga, and there are gifts that show up in the boxes, including an R2-D2 mug, a Star Wars notebook, frameable prints from the films, and a branded binder to hold all the build stage magazines.
